Great work Whole Foods!

Whole foods announced last week that they were going to stop selling shark cartilage products! Amazing!
These products have made millions off of people led to believe in a false cure for arthritis and cancer. They’ve been proven to do nothing to help cure disease, and legal precedent has been set in the US via a case with Benefin, who was claiming the beneficial properties of shark fin. Benefin was forced to refund the money their customers paid for a false cure.
Let’s hope all the other chains follow their lead.
Way to go whole foods!

      We did It!
I am proud to work for a company who listen to their employees.

I saw your movie six months ago and I was so outraged I sent e mails to the regional and national Wholefoods office. I was disappointed we sold not only shark cartilage, but shark oil products. Within three months Wholefoods responded and now I am proud to say to customers we do not sell ANY products that contain shark. You were righ! If we all get together we may be able to save what is left of the planet and save ourselves.
Thank you for taking the lead.

I was actually thinking about the cartilage while watching the trailer. Do you know if this is in the usa or canada as well?

      Hi Rob,

Was not sure where to post this comment, so chose this ‘Whole Foods’ post as an option.

I was deeply moved by your film, and find your hard work and talent commendable. To help your cause, I have begun writing to websites which post recipes for ’shark fin soup’ and requesting that they remove them due to the depletion of shark species.

What I am trying to do is raise awareness for a cause that I also believe in.

Is there more I can do to help, and what would be your suggestions?

In addition, I believe your website & blog should be further optimized for more visibility to drive awareness for protecting sharks and all underwater creatures.

Please let me know your feedback or any suggestions you might have.

      Thank you.

Letter from Nutrition House regarding Shark Cartilage:
      To Whom It May Concern:
We are writing in response to your blog posting and subsequent message regarding Shark Cartilage. Nutrition House takes its responsibilities to the environment seriously. We have been working with Sharkwater to get a better sense of the threats to the shark population and the impact of shark finning.
Although we have been assured by our suppliers that the brands of shark products we supply have been ethically harvested, we have come to the conclusion that any harvesting of sharks at this time creates a potential for ecological harm and thus we have sent a request and notification to all of the Nutrition House stores with a request for them to stop selling this product. We are hoping that once stores move their stock they will comply and support or message. We have been in contact with the manufacturers of this product are happy to announce that Natural Factors the leading manufacturer of natural health products in Canada has also been reviewing this product and their ecological concerns with it. They have made the decision to stop manufacturing this product as well
Nutrition house has always prided itself on leading the industry in an ethical and responsible manner. We also strive to meet the health needs and well being of our customers and our environment.
Thank you for bringing this issue to our attention. Through education and working together we will reach the end goal.
I wish you the best in your campaign
      Nutrition House
