I checked on wikipedia.org about rob stewart and they said that he was 47! It's hard to believe that. I don't know if that's true or not because he looks really young! I mean I met him in April and he looked so young, like almost 20-30! Some people edit wikipedia so I don't know if he is actually 47 or not. And also, someone probably edited this but it said that he was an actor in old movies. But I realized, when I last checked wikipedia, it said that he wanted to be a hockey player then he got into a hockey accident and lost a kidney =S That is probably untrue though :P anyway..
I just wanted to say, I love everything Rob Stewart and the crew members have done. You all have inspired me soooooooo much!!

Hi Rob!

I was so excited when I found out we were doing speeches this year! I thought, this was my chancee to show my class and hopefully the whole school, what people do to sharks. When I did my speech, I wasn't nervous at all! I have really bad nerves but I realized, when I'm up at the front talking about sharks, I'm not neverous at all because I'm speaking about something I'm passionate about and have alot of confidence in! Any way, as I preseted, I put a few pictures on the board: A fisher finning a shark, a pile of fins and tails, a dead shark at the bottom of the sea, an animated photo of a long line and a bowl of shark fin soup. (ew!) I could see the looks on peoples faces and my teacher how disturbing it was (in a good way). At the end a few people even gave me a mini standing ovation ^.^ My teacher was so impressed and she said that you good really hear my voice (not literally but the message I was sending) and you could see the passion. I ended up getting a 95% WOOHOO but unfortunaly was not chosen. My teacher chose 3 people and the class voted. I admit I was pretty disapppointed, mainly because everybody said my teacher was going to pick me, but she said that I wasn't chosen because the other canidates had a relation to their speech: My friend did hers about her life (ended up getting most vvotes and won 2nd place) another did his about the army, his dad is in the army, and the last person did his on horse racing, he told about how him and his dad bonding. Well, I may not have won in the speech contest, but to me, I really did win because I inspired my whole class and my teacher to help save sharks and now some of them have even started a patition on hotmail! So, did I win? Definatly!

I would like to apologize for my previous comments towards Eamonn. They may have been insensitive considering he or someone reading these comments may be a parent to the child who was lost due to a shark bite. Having said that, what we all need to remember is that accidents happen every day - sadly fatal accidents occur very frequently on a global scale. However, when someone dies in a car crash do we ban all automobiles? When someone is killed by a dog, do we kill all dogs? We need to step out of our secluded little worlds, leave the beliefs that we harbour behind and start to look at the facts. The FACT is soda-pop machines kill more humans than sharks.

My boyfriend and I watched this film last evening and WOW! Very moving. I really don't have words to describe what an impact this has had on my thoughts. I've always considered myself as somewhat of an environmentalist. I am a firm believer that greed - the corporate world WILL be the downfall of humanity! The world today revolves around money. Everyone seems to be motivated by dollars and cents, without consideration of how it is acquired or who or what has to be destroyed in the process. What happened to humanity? My favorite line in this film is "we think that we are some kind of God; that we can decide who lives and dies, what can be destroyed and what stays. Really we're all just a bunch of primates out of control." How true! We think we're the most intelligent species... HELLO - we're the dumbest! We're destroying our host - the planet, we know we are doing it, and we're letting this continue? We should all be afraid and ashamed of what we've become.

Oh and Eamonn go educate yourself. Your ignorance is embarrassing!

Hi Rob,

I just finished watching Sharkwater and I am truly touched by this film. I was completely unaware of the massacre that is going on everyday to this animal! I commend you for bringing this devestating issue to the mass culture, risking life and (literally) limb to bring it to us. I wish you all the strength and determination needed to bring the sharks back out of danger of extinction. I do beleive that people are good beings and just the education of this issue will bring people into action to help this species. What more can we mere mortals do to help with this cause? I live in land locked Alberta, Canada and the warm oceans of Costa Rica feel very far away from a place that I can help! Is there anything we can do from land??

Don't know if every shark got the message that they should stop killing people during the PR campaign for the film. Check this story out: "Shark kills boy off Australian coast"
